Atherton Avenue is a minor local road in the River Pines off Bridle Road adjacent to the Concord River. The existing roadway was gravel, which requires continual maintenance and causes sedimentation to the Concord River, especially during larger storm events. We regraded the roadway to provide a uniform width and utilized the existing gravel as the subbase to the new paved roadway.
